Bots or chatbots increasingly turning into one of the most fascinating technology trends of modern software applications. They’re going to play an important role in the future of consumer and enterprise apps. This will completely transform the way people interact.
Sometimes, chatbots are perceived as a new generation of apps after websites and mobile apps. If bots are the new apps, voice could be regarded as the new user interface (UI), artificial intelligence the new protocol, and messaging apps the new browser.
There’s a heated debate concerning how the potential competition between bots and apps will play out.
Will Bots Replace Apps?
These are only the early stages of bot evolution, but it’s already quite clear that chatbots are going to develop into an integral part of the consumer and enterprise software ecosystem.
Now, bots are mostly viewed as text-only interfaces, but with the evolution of chatbots, new platforms are going to emerge that will automate important elements such as testing, monitoring, discovery, security, and more.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) plays an essential role in the development of chatbot solutions. Intelligent bots aim at improving the communication and efficiency as a result of their interaction with users.
In simple words, bots are like personal assistants with apps that can be given orders. By understanding natural human language, bots know and are going to gain a better understanding over time what people want from them. Bots can be tuned to become smarter and more efficient.
Those who think bots are eventually going to replace apps and their ancestors – websites, bring forward the following main reasons for this:
- Natural and more intuitive
- Unified interface
- Ease of on-boarding
- Technologically superior
- Lower-cost and faster deployment
Whatever it is, mobile messaging apps like Pinngle are currently of immense importance both for individuals and businesses all over the world. Pinngle has already turned into a perfect alternative to the most popular messaging apps, thanks to its awesome calling and messaging features and advantages.
Instant messaging (IM) apps like Pinngle provide great benefits for not only simple texting, but also for e-commerce, sales, customer service, and overall marketing efforts, and will further develop and offer more advanced features.
What Do Professionals Think?
During the 2016 Microsoft Build Developer Conference in 2016, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella spoke of a future where people would interact with numerous bots for different everyday tasks like booking hotels, managing diaries, ordering pizza, and more. According to Nadella, bots will take artificial intelligence and the way people interact with computers into a new generation.
David Marcus, head of Facebook Messenger, thinks bots are a technology improvement that could replace apps. Marcus notes that bots provide much nicer experience as compared to apps. Marcus further adds that apps may become a thing of the past because the functioning of bots is improving, and it becomes possible to enjoy a smooth interaction with more and more businesses through them. Marcus thinks it’d be much more convenient to use a single, user-friendly interface instead of using multiple different apps for regular tasks.
On the other hand, Dan Grover, product manager in charge of WeChat’s Mac app, thinks bots won’t replace apps: apps will replace apps. Grover thinks some of the supposed benefits of bots aren’t real. Grover notes bots can be helpful, but they’ll probably be used to augment the user experience of apps and not replace apps. According to Grover, app designers should focus on improving app performance and offering improvements, and that phone operating systems should work on big advances if apps are to stay relevant.
